District Testing Program

The Punxsutawney Area School District believes that assessment is an ongoing process necessary to obtain a clear understanding of the skills and practical knowledge obtained by students as they complete their education.

The District testing program follows a mixed method of gathering information to assist in the evaluation of student progress, including achievement tests, criteria, referenced tests, textbook-generated tests, teacher-made tests, performance-based portfolios, informal evaluation, conferencing, and the Developmental Reading Assessment. Tests are administered during various times of the year and enable parents and teachers to determine students' strengths and weaknesses within specific subject areas as well as showing students' growth in relation to their potential.
