My name is Lisa McMeekin. This is my tenth year teaching at Punxsutawney Area High School. I began studying French at Brockway Area High School and continued at Penn State University. As part of my studies, I spent the summer of 2010 living in Besançon, France. In 2011, I received my bachelor's degree in World Language Education from Penn State. I also completed my certifications for teaching English as a second language, English Language Arts, and Library Sciences. In 2018, I received my master's degree in teaching French through the University of Oregon's Summer Language Institute in Angers, France, where I lived and studied for an additional 3 summers. Studying and teaching languages has been immensely rewarding and I hope my students can find the joys of seeing the world through someone else's eyes and the personal growth that comes with it. I am also involved with gifted, various clubs, and girls soccer. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to encourage and assist students to try new things, ask questions, become life long learners.
