Welcome to my teacher website!

SUBJECT: Instructional Support

GRADE: 4

Hello,

My name is Lisa Keller, and I am one of the Instructional Support Teachers at Punxsy Area Elementary School.  I was a graduate of PAHS, and I attended Indiana University of PA where I received my degree in Elementary Education.  I continued my graduate work with IUP and earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education.  I began my teaching career in Punxsutawney at Parkview Elementary, where I taught third grade for 10 years.  I then transferred to Longview, where I taught third grade for 8 years.  I then transferred to the 4th grade team, where I taught math, science, and social studies for 6 years. I have now transitioned into an Instructional Support position, where I serve students in Kindergarten, Grade 2, Grade 4, and Grade 6. I help teachers in their classrooms, work with small groups, and tutor students 1:1 to reinforce learning and help to fill learning gaps. I also provide enrichment to those students who would benefit from a little extra push. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with a great group of teachers, students, and parents.

I have two daughters, Liz and Laura.  Liz is a Spanish Teacher at Clarion High School.  Laura recently graduated from the Thomas Kline School of Law at Duquesne University and she is now working for a Law firm in Washington, DC.  I think it seems like yesterday when they were students here!  At home, I have a very mischievous cat, Oliver. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends.  After school, you will find me working as the Office Manager at Van Dyke and Company, our local dance company. Over the past seventeen summers, I have traveled with my family and friends to Guatemala, where I volunteer in a village school for Mayan Indian children.  It is amazing to be in a culture so very different from ours, and we just love working with the teachers and children there.  Plus, there are LOTS of volcanoes there!  Very cool!

I just love teaching, and I love my position as Instructional Support. I love seeing the progress that they make, and how excited they get when things begin to "click."  It is wonderful to see my students begin to organize themselves, to have the opportunity to grow in their learning, and to become a part of our community here at PAES. My personal goal is to always work hard with the teachers, staff, and parents to create a caring community in which our students can learn and flourish.
